Well hello there!
Today's post is a very delightful Valentine's day tutorial that I did with my younger daughter N.
N was a bit under the weather last week and was home for most part of the week. Since she was at home I decided that we should add some cheer and get ready for Valentines day. I found this inspiration HERE.
Crayon Valentine Hearts
To make this project, you will need
An oven
Crayons in various colours
A silicon heart shaped mould
Some glitter glue for sparkle
Card stock
Whole punch
Yarn or any thread
(And some patience)
The how to
Step 1
Peel the paper off the crayons. If you use the crayola brand, its not that tough. The girls had crayons which were of another brand and those were rather tough to get off. But anyway, we did it all.
Got them separated like this. The reds together, the blues and greens. Since I didn't have too many yellows and browns I put them together and the blacks I just added with the pink. You can make your own melange. But just remember, the darker crayons will take over when they are in the oven. And its all upto you how you want the colors to be.
STEP2
Once they are all separated, break them into pieces.
Using a paint brush, line the mould with the glitter glue. I asked N to liberally paint it and place the crayons on it. Fill 1/3 of the mould with the broken crayons.
STEP 3
Place the mould in the oven 300 deg F for 15 minutes. They will sputter in the oven and will be extremely hot. So please take caution if you have your kids around you. When you take them out from the oven, you may notice bubbles, just take a toothpick and gently get the bubbles out. You will get some nice forms else it will show on the back.
STEP 4
I cut some white cardstock paper. Got my daughter to write XOXO - an easy thing to write for a Kindergartner with her name.
I also punched 2 wholes. Since I had some red yarn at home. Got the hearts secure with a bow and cut the ends.
